Jason E. Merritt
Jason’s practice focuses on complex commercial real estate transactions.
He has experience representing landowners and developers in commercial transactions, landlords and tenants in commercial leasing matters, and lenders and borrowers in commercial real estate lending matters. Jason’s experience includes advising clients in the acquisition and financing of multi-family housing projects as well as representing owners of agricultural tracts of land in sales to regional and national builders. Jason also has experience in the area of title insurance and is authorized to issue title insurance through First American Title Insurance Company. In addition to his real estate experience, Jason also has a background in local government law and contributes to the firm’s Local Government and Special District practice. Prior to joining Hopping Green & Sams, Jason served as counsel to several Central Florida municipalities and public boards. Jason is a native Floridian and was born in Miami, but grew up in Lake County. After practicing in Central Florida for nearly ten years, where he oversaw the commercial real estate practice for a mid-size commercial law firm in Orlando, Jason relocated to Tallahassee in 2010. Jason and his family enjoy spending time together while experiencing the outdoor activities which the Big Bend region has to offer.
