Overview

Hopping Green & Sams works with clients to engage in the state and federal regulatory process as it evolves to address the environmental and economic challenges of a growing demand for solar energy, domestic biofuels, biopower and other renewables.

Our experience includes representing Florida electric utilities and renewable energy developers in obtaining federal, state, regional, and local permits and approvals for solar generating facilities. We have also represented clients in numerous sectors of the biofuel and renewable energy market, including agricultural interests, landfill operators, and ethanol and biodiesel producers.

Areas of Service

Whether advocating policy, seeking permits and other approvals, or ensuring regulatory compliance, our goal is to provide renewable energy clients with a depth of experience with the policies and practices applicable to renewable projects.

Environmental, land use, and financial factors often intersect when developing and constructing renewable energy projects. The strength of our approach relies on our experience to develop strategies to navigate potential permitting issues including, at times, complex and novel approaches to unique renewable energy projects.

Our experience includes working with clients to obtain approvals required for construction and operation of the growing number of solar generating facilities in Florida. This includes utilizing key relationships throughout the state to obtain necessary local government land use approvals for construction of projects and defending or challenging local government decisions when necessary to ensure that a project may move forward. Other crucial issues facing solar developers often include wetlands and listed species. Our specialized experience in these areas allow us to assist clients in designing, constructing, and maintaining facilities in compliance with regulatory requirements.

We also have experience assisting clients in the development of biofuel projects. This includes obtaining approvals necessary for large scale agricultural operations, such as water use and wetlands-related permits.

Whatever your renewable project is, we have the experience to help structure and implement project plans to meet both applicable regulatory standards and client goals.
