Sand and Limestone Mine Permitting Requirements To Be Reduced

Posted Monday, February 17th, 2014

On February 14, 2014, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection published notice of its intent to undertake rulemaking to eliminate the requirement for sand and limestone mines to obtain a General Wastewater Permit under Rule 62-660.804, Florida Administrative Code, if the mines already have or are required to obtain an environmental resource permit (ERP), since a general ERP exists that also regulates the mine discharges.   A rule development workshop will be held on March 5, 2014.
