HGS Attorneys Facilitate Expanding the Boundaries of Highlands Community Development District and Validate $5 Million in Bonds

On July 21, 2015, the Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners adopted Ordinance No. 15-17 amending the boundaries of the Highlands Community Development District (District) as petitioned by the District and represented by Hopping Green & Sams (HGS) attorneys, Roy Van Wyk and Sarah Warren. The amendment added 35.6 acres to the existing 485 acres for a total of approximately 521 acres. On January 6, 2016, the District received a Final Judgment from the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida validating an additional $5,000,000 in Special Assessment Bonds for a total amount not to exceed $55,000,000, with the assistance of Roy Van Wyk and Sarah Warren. On February 16, 2016, the District issued a series of Special Assessment Bonds, Series 2014 Phase 2A Assessment Area for $2,305,000 to finance the construction and acquisition costs of public infrastructure improvements.
