HGS Attorney Jake Cremer spoke at the 2012 National Conference of Forest Landowners on May 30, 2012. The conference is held annually by the Forest Landowners Association, bringing together private owners of timberlands from across the country to discuss the issues they are facing.

Jake participated in the legal issues panel and discussed recent developments in federal litigation affecting forest landowners. The discussion and questions afterwards focused on the property rights implications of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Sackett v. EPA and on the impact on forest landowners of the Supreme Court’s consideration of Northwest Environmental Defense Center v. Brown, which struck down the EPA’s silvicultural exemption to the Clean Water Act.
