Florida Legislature Passes the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Bill

Posted Friday, May 10th, 2013

Representative Fitzhagen successfully carried legislation that revises provision in various consumer protection statutes overseen and implemented by the Attorney General. The bill includes legislation touching Medicaid Fraud, the Motor Vehicle Warranty Enforcement Act (the “Lemon Law”), and Fair Housing complaints. The bill was amended to delete Lemon Law provisions onerous to auto manufacturers, which may be negotiated and refiled for the 2014 Regular Session. HGS attorney, Diane Carr, worked closely with the bill sponsor to address concerns related to the Lemon Law.
