The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that Heather McTeer Toney has been selected by President Barack Obama to serve as regional administrator for EPA’s Region 4 office in Atlanta, Georgia. EPA Region 4 includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and six tribal nations. EPA regional administrators serve under the direction of the EPA Administrator, Gina McCarthy, and are responsible for managing the Agency’s regional activities.
Ms. McTeer Toney previously served as the Mayor of Greenville, Mississippi, and she currently serves as the executive director of the Center for Excellence in Student Learning at Mississippi Valley State University and is the principal attorney at Heather McTeer, PLLC. Ms. McTeer Toney is expected to begin her role as regional administrator this month.
