Posted Friday, January 18th, 2013

In a draft policy assessment noticed for public comment on January 11, 2013, EPA staff recommends maintaining the current National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for lead, which was set in 2008.  This policy assessment is part of the regular review required for each NAAQS every five years, and EPA is currently expected to publish a proposal in December on whether to lower or maintain the current standard.   Per EPA’s notice, the deadline to comment of EPA’s draft policy assessment is February 4, 2013.
