Three HGS attorneys speak at 2019 APA Florida Conference

The American Planning Association Florida Chapter held their 2019 Florida Planning Conference last week in Destin, Florida. Hopping Green and Sams is a sponsor of this annual conference and three HGS attorneys were presenters at the 2019 conference.

Erin Tilton presented on the panel “Litigation Skills: What your lawyer wants to know” which discussed how planners can manage litigation considerations that may result from both public and private sector projects. Erin is experienced in land use and zoning law and litigates for clients in administrative hearings, circuit court and appellate court.

Robert Volpe was a speaker in the presentation “Comp Plan Controversy” which addressed navigating the constraints of Comprehensive Plans while meeting the goals of public & private planning. Robert has a broad environmental and land use practice. He assists clients in the process of permitting and land development with local, state, and federal governmental agencies.

Lindsay Whelan spoke on the panel presenting “The ABCs of CDDs and HOAs” which covered the background of Community Development Districts and Home Owners Associations. As well as the benefits and appropriate usage of CDDs and HOAs for capital improvement projects that meet the needs of both developers and local governments. Lindsay represents special districts in matters relating to contracting, real property, public procurement, ethics, finance, and construction.
