FWC Commissioners Elect New Chairman, Vice Chairman
At its December 2017 meeting, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) elected a new Chair and Vice-Chair. Commissioner Bo Rivard replaces Brian Yablonski as Chair, and Commissioner Robert Spotswood replaces Aliese “Liesa” Priddy as Vice Chair. Both Yablonski and Priddy have rolled off of the Commission. The two new Commissioners appointed to replace them are Sonya Rood and Gary Nicklaus, with terms starting December 1. Brian Yablonski has accepted a new position in Bozeman, Montana as the Executive Director of the Property and Environment Research Center, a national conservation research institute focused on environmental entrepreneurship and market-based conservation. He will begin his new role in January 2018.
Also at the meeting, the Commissioners voted to appoint Eric Sutton, the current Assistant Executive Director, to the positon of Executive Director, to replace Nick Wiley, who is retiring. Eric has been the Assistant Executive Director since 2013. His appointment must now be confirmed by the Florida Senate. Nick Wiley is retiring from FWC to become the Chief Conservation Officer of Ducks Unlimited. He also begins his new role in January.
