The character of our firm has developed through service to the communities in which we work.  Our firm’s interests, and those of our families, help inform our commitment to causes that make a difference in the community in which we live and make a living.

This commitment is observed in the HGS Core Values, and it is demonstrated by the hours of civic, charitable and pro bono work the HGS team regularly undertakes in support of others. In 2013, HGS enhanced its commitment to pro bono service by implementing the HGS Pro Bono Initiative. The HGS Pro Bono Initiative provides HGS attorneys with possible pro bono opportunities, facilitates placements, and provides both financial incentives and recognition for associates who perform exemplary pro bono work.  The mission and objective of the HGS Pro Bono Initiative is to benefit the community by providing legal assistance to individuals otherwise unable to access adequate legal representation.

HGS supports a number of civic and charitable organizations, including:

American Bar Association; American Cancer Society; American Red Cross; Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club; Big Bend Office of the Public Guardian; Boy Scouts of America; Capital Medical Society; Children’s Home Society; Children’s Miracle Network; Coastal Conservation Association Florida – Big Bend Chapter; Ducks Unlimited; Florida 4-H Foundation; Florida Research Consortium; Friends of the Leroy Collins Leon County Public Library; FSU College of Law; Goodwood Museum; Guardian Ad Litem; Habitat for Humanity; Keep Tallahassee-Leon County Beautiful; Kids Voting Leon County; Knott House Museum; Leadership Florida; Leadership Tallahassee; Legal Services of North Florida; Leon County Humane Society; Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; Physician’s Outreach Program; Southeastern Community Blood Center; Tallahassee Animal Shelter Foundation; Tallahassee Bar Association; Tallahassee Film Society; Tallahassee – Leon County Shelter; Tallahassee Little Theater; Tallahassee Memorial Health Care Foundation; Tallahassee Rotary; Tallahassee Scientific Society; Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra; Turn About, Inc.; University of Florida College of Law.
